God offers salvation for all who receive and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Contrary to what some people believe, all human beings prior to conversion are in a distressed state, “dead in transgressions and sins” (Ephesians 2:1). Realizing this is key in salvation because persons must first acknowledge that they are in danger and in need of salvation before they cry out to be saved. For example, a person may be drowning and the lifeguard may be trying to save her. However, if the person does not believe she is drowning or does not consider herself to be in danger, she will not cry out for salvation and will not accept the lifeguard’s attempts to save her.
Because of God’s great love for us, God acted in Christ to save us. This action is an expression of grace, received through faith. Jesus is God’s only provision for our sin. Without the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, we would have no permanent redemption for sin.
2 Corinthians 5:21: “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ” (NLT).
Romans 3:23-25: “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past” (NLT)
Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I’m sorry for my sins and I ask You to forgive me. According to Your word, I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead so that I might be saved. I now accept Jesus into my heart as my Lord and Savior. I thank You that Your precious Holy Spirit now fills me and gives me the strength and power to live a life that is pleasing unto You. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!
Congratulations! Your decision to receive Jesus is the most important one that you could ever make. If you prayed this prayer, or if you have questions about your salvation, please let us know.
